Mr. Brenton S. Halsey was founding chief Executive Office and Chairman, James River Corporation, a marketer and manufacturer of consumer paper products and packaging and business printing and converting papers, a NYSE company with annual sales of approximately $8 billion.
Mr. Halsey was born in Newport News, Virginia, April 8, 1927. After graduating from the Episcopal High School in 1945, he attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy and graduated from the University of Virginia in 1951 with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree. He did graduate work at the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Mr. Halsey was a Lieutenant (j.g.), in the United States Navy, Amphibious Forces, Pacific Fleet, Korean Theatre from 1951 to 1953.
Mr. Halsey was the former Board Chairman of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation (Monticello), The Virginia Historical Society, The Mariner’s Museum, Richmond Renaissance (now Venture Richmond), Richmond Riverfront Corporation, St. Catherine’s School and the American Forest and Paper Association.
Mr. Halsey is a lifelong racing sailor, is a member and past commodore of Fishing Bay Yacht Club and a member and former member of the Board of the New York Yacht Club.
He and his wife, Lindsay, have 4 children and 16 grandchildren.
