Sandy Miller is a General Partner at Institutional Venture Partners (IVP) in Menlo Park, California focusing on later-stage technology venture capital. Sandy has more than 35 years of venture capital and technology investment banking experience and has served on over 25 boards, including five public company boards. He has been personally involved in over 100 IPOs. Sandy is one of only eight venture capitalists to be included on all the Forbes Midas Lists since 2007 recognizing the top venture capitalists in the world. Previously, he led the U.S. later-stage venture investment business at 3i, a global investment firm. Earlier, he was a Co-Founder of Thomas Weisel Partners, a Managing Director at Montgomery Securities, Merrill Lynch and DLJ, a strategy consultant at Bain & Company and a securities lawyer at Pillsbury Winthrop. Sandy earned a BA from the University of Virginia (Phi Beta Kappa), an MBA from the Stanford Business School and a JD from the Stanford Law School.
At UVA, Sandy serves on the Board of the Fralin/UVA Art Museum and the Arts Council (former Chair), is Founding Co-Chair of the Arts Endowment and Co-Chairs the SF Region Jefferson Scholars Committee. Sandy was on the Executive Committee for the last campaign and has served on the College Foundation Board and NCOUR. He is a member of the Raven Society. Sandy’s two adult daughters are UVA College graduates.
In California, Sandy serves on the Board of the Stanford University Art Museum. He has also served on the Board of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Stanford Law School, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the American Conservatory Theater, and Grace Episcopal Cathedral. Sandy and his wife, Vinie, collect Chinese ink paintings and are raising eight-year old twin daughters (UVA Class of 2030).
