Marcia Adams Gilliam, CLU, has over 34 years of experience in the Insurance Industry specializing in
Life, Health, and Employee Benefits. In 1993, she was a founding partner and was named President of
CSE Financial Services, Inc.., an independent Life, Health, and Employee benefit insurance agency with
Offices in Abingdon and Wise, VA. She was also a partner in CSE Insurance Agency, the Property and
Casualty insurance affiliate of CSE Financial Services. In 2013, CSE Agency and Financial Services
Merged with The Hilb Group of VA., LLC and joined a now $100M insurance conglomerate. Marcia
Continues to serve the Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee insurance markets with her expertise.
Marcia is a 1982 Magna Cum laude graduate of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and The
American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. She is currently the Chair of the UVA Wise College Board and was a
member of The UVA $3B Capital Campaign Executive Committee and the Co-Chair of the successful UVA
Wise $50M Capital Campaign which exceeded its goal by raising over $67M. Marcia
Is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon,
VA and serves as the Chair of the Foundation Board for the Center. She served on the State Board for
Community Colleges and as a Commissioner on the Government Reform and Restructuring Commission
Formed by Gov. Bob McDonnell.
Marcia’s activities in the community are numerous including leadership roles with The William King
Museum of Art, Barter Theatre, Girl’s Inc., Bristol YWCA, and other regional organizations. She has
been honored by The Virginia State Bar Association as a 2014 Influential Women of Virginia honoree,
The Junior League of Bristol as the Sustainer of the Year, Boss of the Year by the
Insurance Women of Southwest Virginia, recipient of the Tri-Cities Business Journal “Forty Under
Forty”, and the finalist in the Community Service Award given by the Bristol YWCA.
