Russell B. Logan
As Chair, UVA IDEA Fund, Mr. Logan leads the overall management of this 6-yr old Alumni fund which augments the University’s investments in programs and resources that help create a more inclusive and vibrant community. He is primarily responsible for working with senior University administration in identifying and prioritizing initiatives for investment from the fund. He is also responsible for overseeing fund development, determining strategies to raise funds from University alums through direct giving as well as through corporate fundraising. His second term as IDEA Fund chair ends December 2016.
Mr. Logan is also, Managing Advisor, Murphy Business & Financial Corporation (MBFC). MBFC, headquartered in Clearwater, Florida, is a small-mid market business advisory firm with 200 offices across North America. MBFC assists business owners in developing and executing exit strategies of private, closely held enterprises. He advises on both sell-side and buy-side transactions including valuation, deal structuring support, and negotiation.
Additional experience includes corporate strategy, product marketing plans and business development programs and demonstrated skills in strategy formulation/implementation, mergers and acquisition, and marketing strategy. A results-focused manager, he has helped start-ups, rapid-growth and transitional enterprises achieve strong revenue, profits, market share and corporate/shareholder value growth. Senior-level Fortune 500 management consulting positions in firms such as Accenture, Coopers & Lybrand and industry roles with VeriSign, CSX Fiber Networks, and Espire Communications. His industry and technology expertise include connected devices, mobile healthcare and consumer telematics, and fiber networking.
Notable achievements include winning first-place with Confidential Information Memorandum for CFN Services’ entry into FundingPost’s 2005 Pitching Across America™ competition; leading business and conceptual development for creating and launching NUE TV (BET Competitor Network).
In April 2016, Mr. Logan was honored by Arlington Public Schools as a Parent Model of Excellence recipient for his work and dedication to the community and advancement of education and inclusion.
Mr. Logan was awarded a Masters of Business Administration from University of Virginia Darden School and BS, Systems Engineering from UVA.
