Listed below are numerous services offered for persons with disabilities and/or limited mobility during the Bicentennial Launch Weekend.
Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Seating for guests who wish to use the services of a sign language interpreter will be available at the Bicentennial Launch Celebration. In addition, a live broadcast of both Bicentennial Launch Celebration will be open captioned and shown on the Lawn as well as at Remote (Indoor) Viewing Locations. If you or a member of your family are in need of either of these accommodations, please contact Barbara Zunder, Director of the Student Disability Access Center (434) 243-5180 or email@example.com)
Wheelchair-accessible restrooms near the Lawn are located in Cocke Hall and at the Rotunda.
Seating for the Bicentennial Launch Celebration
All guests attending the Bicentennial Launch Celebration on Friday will require a ticket whether the celebration is on the Lawn or in John Paul Jones Arena. For the Lawn, individuals using wheelchairs (or guests with mobility challenges) and one companion may sit in the designated area in front of the Rotunda. Limited seating is available in this section. Guests requiring assistance may prefer to watch the celebration in one of the climate-controlled auditoriums nearby (see Remote (Indoor) Viewing Locations) in consideration of the heavily congested areas on the Lawn.
If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Melissa Oliver, the Coordinator of Services for Persons with Disabilities, prior to Friday, October 6. She can be reached by phone at (434) 924-3095, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
